They had already been to a few other places. A home center, a kitchen and bath firm, and a custom shop. Each of them followed the same concept of the first, an island in the center of the space.
With my focus being about anaylzing people, spaces and and function I knew an island was not the best solution for them. She needed to be held within the space to work while the traffic was carefully manage around her.
Dan and Pam love to entertain, so giving them a space that can function in many ways and handle a variety of occasions was important. Daily living needed to be efficient and manageable in a practical and intuitive way.
They both loved the rustic "northwoods" type of feeling, Pam had already choosen her colors. She wanted a fully saturated palette behind the cabinetry to make the wood grain pop! Dan being the engineer was all about symmetry and details. He also router the trim piece vent above the refrigerator himself!
